Hi there! 🙂
I realize that I have not yet fully delved into the history of how I became a 2015 Best Performance of the Year Nominee. This press release (I’ve never done a press release, so I hope I do this right! 😉 ) will serve as a summary of how it all began, what has happened in the intervening time, and what has yet to transpire.
In mid-September of 2015, I had an email correspondence with the producer of A Star is Born. Little did I know, at the time, that this contact would take me on one of the wildest rides in my blogging journey!
I received word that, although it was rather late, the producer liked my writing and wanted to include me in the competition, titled “A Star is Born”. The aim of the competition was to have a “performance” each week which would consist of contributions from each of the nominees and have eliminations via voting. This was set to continue until December 30th, when the winner would be announced.
The producer, Kendall F. Person, informed me that the nominees would be introduced on October 12th, 2015. My blog had been a secret from family and friends until September 28th, the fateful night that my Facebook exploded after the producer dropped my nomination photo onto my timeline. Before this, I had paraded behind the moniker “New Crunchy Mom” rather than my actual name to avoid being found out.
The amount of excited comments and messages that I received, in surprise that I had a blog and in shock that I was in a world-wide competition, was astounding. Since then, I have held my own, week after week, in this competition. I don’t believe anyone, including myself, imagined I would make it this far. Yet, here I am! I’ve survived 7 rounds, all available for you to view here:
In addition to these weekly performances, there is occasional extra special content. As a privilege of being a nominee of the 2015 Best Performance of the Year Award, we were each given “The Closer Look”. This gives you a window into our lives, written by our producer, Kendall F. Person.
“Wide-eyed yet confidant. Graceful but uncertain. Coy, but the years of her private life, whatever it involved, had not trumped her spirit, in fact, it embolden her.” Excerpt from The Closer Look
Our team, Bubba, myself, and all of our supporters were given the title “The Lemke Camp”, complete with our own promotional photo as you can see above.
The most recent assignment for the next performance (December 20th starting at 9pm CST) in A Star is Born is to answer the question “Who am I?” This assignment is harder than you may think!
In order to give context to my answer, I’ve written about the (somewhat controversial) early days of my relationship with my husband.
“We walked towards our future together and away from the pain of the past, firm in the belief and knowledge that if we could take the past on together, we could handle what the future would bring us.” Excerpt from Our Love Story
I cannot express how grateful I am to have been included in such an event as this. A Star is Born is the only online blogger competition of its kind. The Neighborhood stage that Kendall has created is a place where everyone can contribute and every post is a grand performance! Each week is filled with its own dramatic and unpredictable twists and turns as we all reach for stardom.
I would like to thank everyone for your continued support and I hope that you will “tune in” on December 20th to see what I have prepared and to vote. 🙂
